Looking for Ultimate "After Advair" Mouthwash!

Like so many I am prone to Thrush after using Advair (250-50) It has only happened twice and a few days of Fluconaze helps clear it up. I am in great shape otherwise..I think! Have regular check ups etc. I am just curious as to the best procedure of clearing ones mouth of the "powder" after using Advair. I use water of course but what do others use?? Not a mouthwash to cure Thrush but to prevent it. I have read about Baking Soda / Water / Listerine. I hate taking anti fungal medication as it is hard on the Liver. Any comments would be much appreciated. BTW I had 5 ER visits last year for Asthma.....Started on Advair 500 now down to 250...CT Scan and Nuclear Stress test all fine,no hint of Asthma since August 2010. Life is good but I hate noticing the little white bits on my lips!!

Sorry - I never have gotten thrush from the steroid. I only use it at night and then I brush my teeth afterwards.

Re: Looking for Ultimate "After Advair" Mouthwash!

My doctor recommends Listerine. I use plain water, though, because I am not prone to thrush, just sore throats from the medicine. I find that HOW you rinse is more important than what you rinse with. Make sure you really gargle properly.

Thankyou for the input. I am going to do everything I can in the rinsing arena....Advair > Floss > Brush > Gargle !!

Re: Looking for Ultimate "After Advair" Mouthwash!

I've never had the thrush problem, but I always thoroughly brush my teeth and tongue after taking my maintenance inhalers, then drink water afterward.
