chest pain and tightness

Hi Everyone

Well, I went to the doctor today because I am so short of breath. My doctor does not want me to go on prednisone if at all possible because of all the side
effects.
I am having alot of chest pain and tightness which I always have but I just find it wears on me.

I have had my heart checked numerous times but I still find it hard to deal with.

I just feel so worn out from the asthma.

Re: chest pain and tightness

hi, sorry Do you at least have an albuterol inhaler? I am pretty new at the whole asthma business but isn't there other drugs you can take if your doctor doesn't recommend Prednisone? Your doctor doesn't seem very helpful. Asthma is very frustrating...mine came on suddenly last year...seemed to go away for a bit them came back big time this summer/fall..I'm using my rescue inhaler everyday it sucks. Did your doctor give you any suggestions at all? I'd maybe go see another one, get a second opinion.

Re: chest pain and tightness

Yes, I have albuterol and I am on advair, alvesco and spriva. I also started
xolair shots 3 every two weeks. I take flonase and reactine as well.

My doctor is very concerned about the prednisone because I have been on many doses of it. He knows if I do not do well I will come back and see him or one of his colleagues.

Sorry, maybe it sounded like he is not helpful but he is.

I just find I get fed up with asthma.

Oh, yes, it is exhausting, frustrating and all the rest.

Hang in there. First frost is just weeks away, and then at least we have a break from the evils of ragweed season!

Re: chest pain and tightness

Don't know if this would help, but I take a low dose of prednisone every day. I take it for another health problem. If you take less than 5mgs. a day you should not have any long term effects. Of course that low dose may not be helpful, but just a suggestion.

Re: chest pain and tightness

Thanks for everyone's ideas.
I am feeling better than last week. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I am hoping that the xolair maybe working abit.

Take care everyone.
