shortness of breath going up stairs

I am having problems with shortness of breath going up a flight of stairs and even
worse on 2 flights.
I used to only have shortness of breath on more than 1 flight of stairs or if my asthma was out of control.

Can anyone relate.

Re: shortness of breath going up stairs

Sure...you aren't premedicating before cardio (climbling stairs is a cardio activity) so you are going to have problems. If it bothers you that much, one hit off the albuterol 15minutes beforehand should take care of it - just as if you were jogging or dancing, etc.

Re: shortness of breath going up stairs

Thing is, going up ONE flight of stairs shouldn't be a real cardiovascular activity. It does sound like you aren't under control.

Thanks for the comments.
I am going to let my doctor know because it is not normal for me lately.

Re: shortness of breath going up stairs

I had one stress test to check my heart and now I am getting a more extensvie nuclear test to check for any cardio problems.
They want to rule out any heart issues because of my shortness of breath,
pain and tightness in my chest.
