Singulair side effects after stopping

I had five weeks worth of singulair samples. It took about three weeks for it to start working. Once it was working I no longer had any symptoms and didn't have to use my ventolin at all and was back on regular dosage of symbicort. Yesterday morning was the last dose that I had left. Today, I woke up severely out of breathe and have been having symptoms that have been steadily getting worse. I feel severely out of breath and weak.

Singulair isn't covered by my drug plan. My doctor sent in paperwork to the manufacturer for compassionate sampling but that could take a while. My asthma educator said that my family doctor could try to get it through the hotline. I'm going to call my doctor on Monday to find out if they called the hotline about the samples. I can't afford singulair out of pocket.

Has anyone else had their asthma symptoms come back with a vengeance after stopping singulair?
