Post How do I know if son is Autistic

I have a 2 year old son, and I am becoming very worried about him. I had a bad labour and emergency c section, and he had Head Trauma from it, they said that he might be a bit slow. But he seemed fine, he starting crawling and walking before they thought he would, and my health visitor was surprised. Maybe he is being a little bit slow or stubborn and I am being an overprotective mom. But his behaviour is getting worrying. He won't talk, even though he can say some words. He can't tell me if he's hungry or wants something. He just points and sort of screams, not a high pitch scream, more of a wining type thing. I took him to a toddlers group this week, and it made me notice even more. I know that they develope at different rates. But call it a mom feeling, but I really think that something is wrong. I tried talking to my health visitor a few months ago, and she that I wanted him to have a check up, but she just said that they do the development check at 2 years. His is the week after next.
I have tried thinking that maybe it's his hearing, because he screams so loudly. If someone can give me some advice that would be great. Many thanks for reading this book.

MY SON IS 9 NOW AND WE HAD THE SAME THOUGHTS AT 2 HE WASN'T TALKING BUT HIT ALL HIS GROWING STRIDES. WE HAD HIS HEARING CHECKED FIRST WHEN THAT TURNED OUT OK THEY SENT HIM TO A NURAOLIGIST(SPELLING). HE WAS ABOUT 21/2 AT THIS TIME. THAT DOCTOR SAID HE HAD AUSTIC TENDASEAS BUT NOT ENOUGH TO SAY HE WAS AUSTIC. A YEAR LATER WE WENT TO A DIFFERENT DOCTOR THEY DID AN MRI AND EEG AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK FINE. IT WAS'T TILL HE WAS 51/2 BEFORE THEY SAID HE WAS AUSTIC. I WOULD RECOMEND THAT YOU CONTACT AN AUSTIC SOCIETY IN YOUR AREA AND HAVE HIM TESTED.

Jade,
I'm gonna give you a buch of information here to look at. It should help you recognize the different signs of Autism. If you feel strongly about this keep pursuing it! Don't let them stop you from getting the diagnosis if you truly feel your child is Autistic. There is a lot of information here, some that can be useful things you can do at home even if you don't have the dx and want to do something to help your child. Anyway, here it is:
