Just a note of hope...,my son is 4, asperger's, anger
and low esteem are by-products pf not being understood and of feeling like a failure..get him to be successful at SOMETHING make up games where he WINS we play sharades, makeing communication a game. My don's frustration turns to lsughter when we can't figure out what the 'animal' is. We act like dinosaurs and try to figure out which one he is T-Rex id his best "act". Since Cameron learned to catdh a ball he holds his head up higher these days.. we build self esteem in our kids and no one can take it away IF they feel in their hearts that they CAN DO IT IF THEY TRY it may take a LOT of trys, but never giveup,take a rest, and try again later! This is our latest attitude..I tell Cameron, don't worry, when you go to first grade, you'll be able to tie your shoes then, don't worry, keep practicing,,these kids WORRY. Stage games where your son WINS..this is the most important thing I can think if for self eateem-building.. He has to thunk of himself as a winnwe, NOT A LOSER.. we are our kid's MIRRORS..when they turn teenanger, their peers are their mirrors, but he is 7, your facial expression will tell him if he is a winner or a loser.remember that!! positive statements...you are good at that..you are funny ..you are so clever to think of that!! act excited at his ideas. and he'll have more! My 12 year old is looking t a scholarship to Mercersburg Academy, no medicine...it took a lot of work..homeschool if possible the lower grades, all you need is a high school diploma.. IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE11111 forget the social aspect of it all.. our kids are'nt GOOD at it...it will come in time... you can't send a kid to first grade every day to be a failure..not to get recess because of interupting the teacher all the time..that's failing!! all they miss is learning the swear words... thanks for lettingg me blow off some steam...I home schooled my son Holden 2 grade..he tested 2 in the nation in reading, 5 in math..that is not percent that is individuals {iowa tests} He still fightsoff low self esteem at times is moody.. I thimk he has such high standards he places on himself...did you know Einstein had asperger's syndrome? It's a good thing.. these people become GREAT PEOPLE in medicine, they win nobel prizes,, don't throw them to the public school system until they are ready...I better go..good luck..cindy my mom lives in Valley Stream
