MY SON IS 2 YEARS OLD WITH PDD. HE RECEIVES 20 HOURS OF ABA THERAPY A WEEK AT HOME THROUGH EARLY INTERVENTION. HIS DOCTER SAID HE NEEDS TO BE IN A FULL TIME ABA PROGRAM. MY PROBLEM IS THERE ARE LIMITED SCHOOLS PROVIDING THIS THERAPY, SO MY SON IS NOT ENROLLED BECAUSE THERE ARE NO OPENINGS. I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE CHILDREN WHO REQUIRE THIS THEREAPY AND THEY ARE TURNED AWAY BECAUSE OF A WAITING LIST. I JUST DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I AM HAPPY WITH HIS EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES, BUT I KNOW IT IS NOT ENOUGH AND I DON'T FEEL THAT MY SON SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT TO RECIEVE THE PROPER SERVICES, BUT I JUST DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO!

Hi. You could always try and doing some early intervention with your son. If you could just do 2 hours a day for 5 days, that would be an extra 10 hours for your son...and it's a great way for you to understand what he needs!!! I work in a home giving ABA treatment. The family I work with, their sons(2) get 40 hours a week...hope this helps.~Ann-Marie

Hi following on from Sam 78, the ME book by Lovaas is also useful.
It may not help at the moment, but another book is 'Teach Me Language' by Sabrina freeman and Lorelei Dake.
It aims to continue from the point where the books by Catherine Maurice and Ivar Lovaas finish off.
