Anyone know anything about Concerta? - Autism Spectrum Message Board

Doctor put my daughter on Concerta this week, anyone have any experience with it? She is autistic, mentally handicapped and ADHD.

Hi Kizzygirl,

Concerta is a drug containing Methylphenidate. it is a one a day treatment for ADHD or ADD. It is recommended by the makers to be used in part of a complete programme incorporating educational, behavioral and social skills support.

ive found out a little more.In the UK it is sold as ritalin and Equasym. You may find that a search under these names will turn up afew more things.

Yes my son is on conerta he is 16 and is dignosed aspergers - ADHD. concerta is just like ritalin except you take it once a day ( my son likes to take it early so it does not keep him up at night) he would take 3 doseges of ritalin a day and like most he had highs and lows .the conerta lasts most of the day .my son said he likes it better and that is what we like to hear.... hope this helped you

I am depressed, ADD/ADHD, and Bi-polar I've been on such things as concerta for 7 years. I've taken ritalin, aderall, and am now on Concerta. I have been on it for a while, going on my 4th year. It really does work. It's great, you only have to take it once a day, it is time released, and it's easy to swallow. It helps with concentration and even slightly with mood control. I just started taking the highest dose possible. My Mom thinks it works well. I'm also on Wellbutrin and was on paxil. Hope that helped.
