Chelation Therapy - Autism Spectrum Message Board

I am trying to get some information on Chelation Therapy if anyone has tried it or has any good or bad info on it and If anyone is from the Northeast PA area who knows of a dr. who does this for children. My nephew has recently been diagnosed with autism (PDD NOS) and my brother is having a hard time finding dr's and therapies in the area. he will also go to orange county NY or sullivan county NY. if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

thank you for the information i will pass it on to my brother. I know he has put my nephew on a special diet already and has seen some improvements with it. My nephew is 2 1/2 years old and we started seeing symptoms after he recieved his vaccinations turns out they all contained mercury in them and two were given at the same time that we found out are never supposed to be given together or they can cause brain damage.Right now he is on metachel and lipoic acid(i think thats how it is spelled) he is off all dairy products and on some other diet restrictions. finally the county authorized him for therapies in home every day and now they are looking for another dr because it turns out the one they had seen was a fraud and a ripoff. any more info would be appreciated and thank you aga9in for your help

hey out there.. I am from PA also...the Johms Hopkins institute has a WHOLE BUILDING for autisim it's the KRIEGER INSTITUTE they don't test there but they know who does.. you send some of the child's first haircut and it can show the level of mercury even if the older child has low range in the blood or urine... I thought this was interesting..esp to prove damage occured after a vaccination...good luck cindy that's Kennedy Krieger Institution

Hi Cindy and Sapphire, I too am from PA.. (Near Penn State University) My son Jeremy is 5 years old and Autistic. I have had him to many local Drs., Geisinger Medical Center, and Hershey's Children Hospital.. I still can't seem to find "the right" Doctor that is willing to help us with our child. I contacted a homeopathic Dr that is near Williamsport (they are chelating my father for heavy metal toxitity) about chelating my son, but they wouldn't even consider it because of his age.

I have had the hair sample test done for him and it showed very little mercury (probably due to his age now) but it did show extremely high levels of LEAD! There were other toxins that showed up in high amounts, but the lead was outrageous! I am so disappointed in the Dr. that my son has now because I have contacted her several times about "where do we go from here" and she has never returned my calls.. The test results even said to seek medical attention right away to rid his body of the toxins. Kinda hard when you don't have a Dr. that is willing to cooperate. I have looked at the DAN doctors several times and there is none located close to us, but it looks like we will have to travel to either Scranton, Philly, or Pittsburgh. I am going to contact some of them today to see about making an appointment.. For now I have started him on Garlic tablets, and a pure antioxidant to start flushing his system. If either of you find anyone in our area that is willing to do Chelation Therapy please let me know, and I will do the same for you..

P.S. my son is one of the many that was developing normally (actually ahead of his age at the time) and then had a sudden regression after vaccinations at 15 months. Breaks my heart to know that there was even a possibility that I could have prevented this from happening to him. We are working with 3 State Representitives right now to help change the way our government works for children like ours. If it doesn't help then at least they can keep Autism Awareness fresh in the minds of other government officials, so they will NEVER forget what has happened to our children..
