I have a recipe for making ketchup...I have made it. She likes it fine...
12 Plum tomatoes, chopped
1 onion, very finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced fine
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 red pepper, chopped very fine
1 1/2 tsp celery seeds
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 TBSP sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
Boil tomatoes, onion, garlic, salt, red pepper, for about 30 minutes, or until it has the consistancy of "sauce"
Strain through a sieve and discard the solids.
Place all the spices in a bouquet garni (or wrap them in cheesecloth), closing with string or a twist tie. Place in the sauce and stir in the sugar. Simmer slowly, stirring often, for about 30 minutes.
Add the vinegar and remove the spice bag. Simmer on low heat for another 10-12 minutes.
Cool and pour into a sterilzed jar or jars. This makes about a quart of ketchup.
Seal as directed on jar/lid packages for later use. You may want to find some small jars to store in, because this only lasts for about a month opened. Unopened jars last for about 6 months.
Now having listed this, I wanted to try making it, but it was not something I particulary want to do all the time. Heinz ketchup is GFCF. I also have bought that for her. Sometimes, I think the prepackaged food it just easier, unless you have the problem with corn like you do, b/c it does have corn syrup in it. I hope this recipe helps you
