| Re: best way to test for heavy metals....
hey there I would do the hair test first and then the blood test. Blood tests will only catch recent exposures. Hair test detect what was in the body when that hair follicle was produced. Most of the bad stuff like mercury and aluminum and lead stay in the organs , bones, and brain so It is hard to detect it. Mercury will probably not show up on either hair or blood, but that doesn't mean there isnt any. The general rule is that if the mineral are messed up and zinc is really low, and mercury seems to be the lowest of all the metals then the child is more than likely mercury toxic. The other metals should show up. I just did my daughter's hair test and she showed toxic in lead, cadmium, arsenic, antimony, aluminum, and bismuth. The lead didnt show up in the blood, but it did in the hair. Her zinc was really low and other minerals were messed up. Her dan doctor said she is also mercury toxic eventhough her mercury level barely registered. Anyway i would for sure do the hair test first and then if you want to get the blood test done. I dont know if your insurance will cover . I have medicaid and they covered the blood lead test.
