Hi everyone, I am so glad to have found this message board. I've been looking for a place to ask Questions for a long time.I have 5 kids, and three of them have recognized neurological issues. My 11 yr old daughter has tourettes and who knows what else. my 6 yr old son has add, a slight ld, and impulse controll issues.And my three yr old daughter has been diagnosed with autism. My question is mostly about her. She is in developmental, speech, and occupational therapies, along with weekly meetings with her phycologist. I started wondering about her behavior almost immediatly after birth. People would say to me does she ever smile, and there was just something about the way she looked at everyone. and I would mention my concerns and the reply was always"stop worrying" . I cant count how many times ive been told that Einstein didn't talk till he was four, or about so and so's half brothers cousins uncle who stared at people like that till his eye balls poped and he turned out just fine.The thing is Einstein was a very unhappy man, second of all, Iwish people would try to recognize a moms ability to "just know"when something isn't right. Now even the doctor is saying she is probably just "slow to warm up". I feel like noone is listening to me. My daughter is not just shy, and I need help. The thing is Caroline is capable of being out in public, and looking people in the eye, and seeming very normal. She has a speech delay, doesn't hardly ever play with her toys except to line them up or "set them up" she can't grasp nonrealism, and is affraid of nearly every thing. Not to mention the toe walking, pinching, and screaming over everything. I guess I just want people to be a little more realistic. I mean if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.....if any of you have had any similar experiences I would love to hear what you did about it. thank you
