Hi all -

I have a 9yo son who has received every label in the book. We recently received an out of district placement from the school system for a therapeutic school and it is helping him. The school requested a neuropsych and I received verbal results yesterday.

They used the term affective spectrum disorder which means he suffers from a neurobiological disorder. They believe it looks like bipolar but could have some asperger and OCD like behaviour as well.

I think it is another way of saying he has a lot of struggles which we have been dealing with since he was three.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard this label and knows of any good research. I can't find much at all on the web!

Have you tried to use a search engine?

I have and they have some links there... try that. It did say it is genitic in nature... something about 14 different things could be involved, like depression and others...
