My son has sensory integration dysfunction. Since my husband has been on B-shift (2:45pm-11:15pm)5-6 x per week since Sept.2004 our son has been super glued to me. Prior to this he was learning to be a little more independent of me, now this. Tonight at swim class (parents must stay) his regular teacher was out so he had to be put with another- as a matter of fact it was the same teacher his cousin has and they were taught together. He was terrible! He cried the whole time, kept looking at me, was extremely mean to his cousin and just plain had a huge meltdown. Then he insisted we eat at McDonalds after. Of course, I was so frustrated, upset and stressed to say the least. ( and no we did not eat at McDonalds) What can I do? How do I start making him more independant of me? Any suggestions? Thanks
