Hi, this is my first ever posting and I need help. My 5 year old son, Ryan is still in nappies and has great sensory satisfaction in pulling apart his nappy, which I find awful to say the least. How do I stop him. Any ideas would be wonderful because I'm all out. He has no understanding of what he's doing really upsets me and doesn't understand that what he is doing is wrong.Hope someone has an idea, or that someone has the same problem.
Alot of kids with Autism consider nappies( diapers) great fun to play with. I know my 7 year old considers CaCa homemade playdough. I heard a Mom recently say the one piece dance leotards saved her sanity. It doesn't stop her son from playing with the diaper but does slow him down which is all alot of us can hope for with some of our kids behaviors. She uses the sleevless ones and finds it works well under her son's clothes. Not too hot. My son Paul is potty training ( has been for 5 years) so he needs to pull pants up and down so it would not work too well for us. Although after he pulled his pants and pullup down to his knees at the public park last week and ran around laughing with my husband chasing him( My son is 7 weighs 65lbs. and is 4ft. tall) we did get a couple of the one piece sleeveless leotards to use at the park. He is way to big to have his willy flapping in the breeze in public. Good luck your not alone.

We solved our problem by putting on shorts or trousers with a belt on, tight enough to stop his hands going down there. There was no discomfort on the childs behalf at all.
