So proud of my son

Im so happy im in tears writing this but I wanted to share my happiness today.
Kedan my sons been in therapy a few weeks now and hes doing great. I never thought therapy could make this much of a difference in him.

He said "more" the other day. his first real word .Hes done a few signs and is eager to learn more. Also the most amazing thing of all. Hes looking at me right in the eyes and smiling too. he never has direct eye contact.

Also hes picking out shapes and pictures that im telling him too all on his own.Weve been worling so hard with him and its paying off now.

Ive been struggling latley with being depressed over some things in my life but this makes all those other things seem so UNimportant.
thanks for listening.

Re: So proud of my son

It's so wonderful when you see the progress begin to happen. I can totally relate to your post. My son was 20 mos when we began therapy and at that time he had what I think were classic Autism symptoms. I changed his diet to the gf/cf diet at that time. Between the diet change and therapy he is a different child today. Keep up the therapy and try to get as many hours as possible. Congrat's

Re: So proud of my son

I can also relate to your post. Having a special needs child can be very stressful and tiring but I am trying to look at the positives in our lives. Every time they achieve something new it is like having a new baby with their first smiles, steps, etc. With my son I get to experience that feeling every time he does something for the first time. These are memories we will cherish.

It's the littliest things that we see, (and lots take for granted) that makes our day. I fully understand this!!
