Which state (county) do you consider to have the best program, funding, & swift action in getting your child started in those programs?

In Delaware There Is An Autism Program That Is One Of The First Started In The Nation, But It Takes A Few Months For The School District To Set Up The Interview With Them

In Illinois You Have To Wait For The School District To Determine Over A Period Of Time If Your Child With Autism Is Progressing In Regular School Before Considering Taking Further Action (i Have Yet To Find Out What That Period Of Time Is)

North Carolina has the TEACCH center which is great. They have their main offices in Chapel Hill near UNC. However the school systems that we dealt with in that area just royally suck with respect to delivering services to the kids. Wake County in particular is notorious for denying to your face that there is a problem. Their teachers (who may never have had contact with your child) know more about your childs problems than any specialists or doctors you've had do tests and submit reports. They also couldn't begin to give a hoot about the special ed laws sometimes. They know the deck is stacked against the parent from a legal perspective.

I apologize for the rant... just a frustrating subject for me.

We have had good luck so far in Calif. The Regional Centers provide alot of assistance from diagnosis to treatment. So far we haven't had to pay for anything but travel to the specialists and books/supplies we heard good things about. If we lived in a bigger city, there would be tons of resources, schools, etc. But we live in a rural area and the autism services are just starting to be funded.

I have also been reading about the Autism services in Eugene, Oregon. I have been impressed by what they offer and how they seem to be really moving forward and trying new things.
