how could they miss it!!!!

i dont know this person. its a boy in my brothers class who has a horrible time. he is 14/15 and every1 bullys him. he constantly gets the hand taken out of him by both teachers and pupils, he is always being misunderstood or shouted at, they just think he is an idiot. but from everything my brother told me about him he is the picture of aspergers-i know im not a doc but its sooooo obvious from the symptoms, i listed sum aspergers to my brother and he just was amazed that this boy matched them all:

>14 yrs old and pretends to be an animal, will sit in playground and smack his feet on ground and grunt like a bull and then run at them
>known to sit in the middle of playground crossing legs and yell
>doesnt make any eye contact, looks round him, interupts wen speaking
>is obbsessed with ther making of gameboy game, all he talks about, talks over people doesnt tell when they r bored
>wont sit still, jigs about, always in trouble for forgetting everything
>very bad socially,no freinds, no interest in girls at all
>appears hyrperactive or like ADD-thats why he is always in trouble
>very very short temper, known to take rages and get laffed at
>does not pick up on jokes, sarcasm, or humour-when he tries to crack a joke it doesnt make sense-like he is trying to learn off others but doesnt understand

i feel so sorry for him. my brother just thought he was annoying and obnoxious till i told him there is obviously sumthing wrong with the boy. the school is constantly belittling him and making him out to be just an idiot unknowing he probably has aspergers or sumthing along them lines.how do they miss this behaviour, he is always in trouble and what he does is inappropraite for his age-he is screaming aspergers!!!-or sum form of autism or sumthing!!! how did his parents miss it!! ive heard of people with mild cases beibng misdiagnosed or not even picked up on-but come on!

can u guys tell me just outta interest-how common is it to be missed, were any of u lately diagnosed as an adult, did u show any signs like his as much?? wud really appreaciate feedback. xox

Re: how could they miss it!!!!

I think Asperger's is a distinct possiblity. He has a lot of the classic "red flag" markers. His case appears to be fairly severe. This boy needs help, not to be bullied.

Re: how could they miss it!!!!

I agree, Luckystar. I had a hard time in school with bullying, but at least I had my family. I couldn't imagine having to go through that kind of thing all alone.

Re: how could they miss it!!!!

I have an autistic teenager and she was treated very similar to this, her life was made hell to the stage where she wanted to die. No one in the school picked up on this at all - for this lads sake is there not a head of year or similar you could go to in strict confidence and tell them exactly what you said on here. Or even print off your thread and say to the techer ' look someone has wrote this about this boy' and tell them who the boy is and say maybe someone should look into it for his sake. Or even print the thread and post it anonomously to the head of school and write inside the boys name on it so they know who you are on about and hopefully they will have the brains to do something.
No one at all picked up on my child, and her life was made hell by both teacher and kids, when i confronted the teachers and asked them why they were not helping my child they would just say they dont have the time. My child has only last week started a new school ( a special school) and thank God she is just so happy.
try to help this boy if you can or even tell your parents and maybe they could do something You are obviously a vey kind and caring person to be concerned about this lad.
Good luck
willow
