Charter school for Autism Spectrum Disorders anyone?
I just heard (forgive me if other states already do this, sorry I'm from Idaho...that should explain it... ) that a charter school just opened in Utah specifically for children with Autism and Asperger spectrum disorders. Anyone else out there ever heard of this? How do you start one?

Hi, My name is Shelley, I have not heard of this charter school as I am from Ontario,Canada. We have an Autism centre here in Toronto called the Geneva Centre, they specialize in children with Autism. What do they do at The Charter School, please explain.

As far as I know, it is a public school run by the state. They are governed by the state just like regular public schools. The main difference is that a group of interested parents got together and created a "charter" and submitted it, etc. It is tuition free, but to get in you are picked from a lottery. It seems like alot of work to start one but I would definitely be interested. Thanks for your comment.
