Ok if not nut-allergic, however, wisdom says not to overdo. Nuts are high in natural glutamates. In excess, glutamates can harm brain cells.
On the other hand, nuts are good sources of minerals like zinc, that our kids are often deficient in. If you suspect there is an aspect of 'craving' to your son's enjoyment of nuts, you might ck. that he is getting adequate zinc elsewhere in his diet and/or supplements.
I provide my teenaged son w/PDD-NOS with cashews & peanuts on a regular basis. IMO these nuts are a much healthier & more nourishing snack than say, Frito-Lay products.
