Has anyone tried ABA therapy and has it worked for their kids?

My son began speech therapy at 30 months and ABA therapy at 32 months. My son's speech is perfect and his cognitive levels are exceptional. He is in a regular first grade class with no assistance. Since Kindergarten he has made straight A's. He never complains about homework since he has been doing school work at home since he was 2.

If you are interested in starting an ABA program, I recomend the book "Let Me Hear Your Voice" by Catherine Maurice. It is a true story about a family that used ABA to make their children indistinguishable from their peers. My son did not have Asperger Syndrome (which I think is easier to overcome if you have early intervention) he was diagnosed with mild PDD at 30 months.

Hi Relay;

I highly recommend ABA therapy. I feel it has helped my son tremendously. It's a structured, neutral way of teaching the children to help them meet their potential. It's great for the parents as well since it teaches you the best ways to redirect the undesired behaviors and praise the things that are accomplishments. It's like taking a course in Advanced Parenting.

I recommend ABA completely...that coupled with biomedical interventions has helped our son overcome so many challenges and excel academically and socially. Best of luck to you.

Hi, my nephew is newly diagnosed with mild autism. I've been doing a lot of research regarding biomedical intervention and was wondering what have you tried that works? There's so much information out there and I don't know where to start or what to try.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
