trip to Disney World - Autism Spectrum Message Board

I was wondering if anyone could offer information on traveling with an autistic child to Disney World. We will be driving there, ,so we aren't worried about that part of the trip. I am concerned about waits in lines and things that most others have shown concern in getting around at Disney World. I have read some older threads about this and am wondering if anyone can add any new information. We want to be able to go, but we are very apprehensive. ANy advice would be so very appreciated.

Hi! You can go to guest relations and obtain a guest assistance pass (tell them you have a child with special needs). This will be able to help with the lines. If you are staying on the property take advantage of the early/late hours. It may help. Get/Take a stroller. Do the parks in spurts so as not to overwhelm your child.

There are many more people on this board that may be more of help. But, overall, people have had positive experiences. Just go with the flow and let your child guide you.

I was in Disney World in Easter you may have read some of my old threads. Get a Guest Assistance Pass some of the rides allow you to get on with little or no wait time but for the attractions that don't allow this get a Fastpass. They are free and allow you to get on with little waiting time. I was talking about the changes that have been made to The Guest Assistance Pass to The Manager of my local Disney Store and he told me had I complained to Guest Relations they would have tried to resolve the problem so remember if you are not happy with the service talk to Guest Relations. My 7 year old Autistic son loved the holiday and to see him shout Pluoo and run up and cuddle Pluto was worth every penny I spent on the holiday. Good Luck and let us know how you do.
