I hear ya. My son was diagnosed two years ago. It is very confusing and overwhelming. Still. I just found this site a week or so ago and am so grateful for it .
There is alot of information out there, you just have to sift through it all. I've logged on to so many websites at first that I became overwhelmed and didn't go back on for a long time.

My son was diagnosed with Aspergers two weeks ago. It is very overwhelming. I have found the more information I find the better it is. This support board has been the best too. I started a thread here looking for information, I got a wealth of knowledge in the post. I wish you and your son the best.

There's a really good side to a diagnosis... Once you know that there are a lot of other kids out there with the same difficulties yours faces, then you can figure out whether what worked for them, can also help your kid.

I was rather relieved when I found out I had Asperger's. It explained a lot--and told me that my social clumsiness, obsessive behavior, and eccentricity weren't my fault, or my mom's; that it was genetic and nobody could've changed it. That was a huge weight off my back. I had thought--and my mom thought--that I was a "difficult child" who should've been more disciplined.

After I found out about Asperger's, I began to understand myself much more; and I saw some of the problems that had been facing me from new angles. The new perspective and the new understanding provided solutions I'd needed for years.

hopefully he was diagnosed early. i have aspergers sydrome and went through a very hard childhood of mentle hospitals and special schools cause i was diagnosed ADD ADHD bipolor and all those. and not untill i was 15 found out about aspergers and even then it wasnt a doctor. it was a lucky coincidence that i acted up in high school and the secretary just happened to have a aspergers sydrome child and when my grandmother came to pick me up she told her. and when we went to a doctor who actually knew what AS was i was diagnosed AS and finally alot of quirks ive had my whole like made sence. like rocking when i get mad, not being able to handle changes in scedules. being like 5 grades ahead in math but 2 grades behinds in the vocal subjects like english vocab writing. hope he is one of the lucky ones. who dont fall through the cracks like i did.
