Re: please help me

sometimes it's hard to separate out what is two year old tantrums and what is more than that. when he talks, does he make eye contact with you? does he ever walk on his tiptoes? does he get upset if his routine is changed? does he play appropriately with his toys? these are just a few questions that might show something more is going on.

i would rec'd asking your pediatrician to give you a referral for an evaluation by an developmental pediatrician, or even a good speech therapist. i think either will be able to give you a better idea of what is going on. you'd probably get an appt. quicker with the speech therapist, sometimes the devel. peds. have long waiting lists. our speech therapist was wonderful and she was the one who actually rec'd a good ped. for us to take our son to as well.

there are early intervention services that your son might well benefit from. you could call your local office of developmental disabilities and ask about an evaluation to see if your son is eligible for e.i. services and the eval. will also give you a better idea of things too.

the important thing is to get professionals involved so you can begin to get some of your concerns answered. i know how hard this part is, but there is help out there, if it is needed and is more than just "the twos".

Re: please help me

Have you had his hearing checked? A hearing deficit could explain some of these difficulties. You should at least get a good assessment done by a developmental specialist. Also call your local school system and ask about an assessment for developmental delays. They can get you started on some services that will be completely free for you, including transportation if needed.

The sooner you start this the better and the less chance of long term reprecussions. I am a special education teacher and believe me I have seen these services work for many kids.
