running out the door
I'm a substitute teacher and we have an autistic student who keeps running out the door to the outside, then waits for someone to chase after him. When we don't chase but only watch him, he comes back to the door but then bolts when we open the door to let him in. Please help we don't know how to get him to stop. Locking the door is not an option because it is a classroom.

It sounds to me like he needs an aide to help him manage this problem. For sure, the whole team needs to sit down to brainstorm strategies and get them written into the IEP. But I think an aide needs to be implemented asap.
