| Has my son got signs of Autism?
My son is three and a half years old, he was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of six months. He was having about 40 seizures a day for about a year and a half. He then had an operation because medication wasn't working. The surgery reduced his seizures to about three a day. Along with his epilepsy we have noticed that he has learning difficulties, as he didn't start to speak till he was three and still has great difficulity doing so. He has a very very low attention span and cannot sit still for more than ten seconds. He has violent outbursts and mood swings. He constantly spits and he obsesses over certain things, for example a particular advert. On the other hand he is very loving, playful and is very intouch with his emotions. We understand that the amount of medication he is on may influence his behaviour but we are starting to wonder is this challenging behaviour pointing towards autism or ADHD. If anyone has any advise or information, I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you.
