I don't heal properly, is this Autoammune disease?
I'm almost 31 and I find when I get injured, my injuries tend to turn chronic. This has happened with my lower back, elbow pain and groin pain.
Is it possible my body dosen't fix my injuries properly? And is there a definite test for Autoammune disease? I've been trying to get my vitamin D levels under control as well to help my body.
Re: I don't heal properly, is this Autoammune disease?
I think an autoimmune disease would be much more complex than that. Do you have any other symptoms? Yes there is a way of diagnosing it. You need an ANA test done which if positive, they can go on to check to see if you have autoantibodies to a particular autoimmune disease. ANA with reflux. Pretty simple blood test. Doctors will also check your inflammatory markers, like ESR, RF, CRP, not that they have to be positive in the presence of AI disease, but it makes them feel like it's more likely when it is. I got my Vit D back up to nearly normal, it has done nothing for me. Not to worry you, but that is just true. My pain was there before the Vit D went low, and it's still there.

neveragain,
I just got my vit D blood work done up yesterday and a whole bunch of other tests. It was just an overall health check not specifically for RA or Atuoammune disease. I'm going to ask him about the ANA test and see what he says.
Re: I don't heal properly, is this Autoammune disease?
For years and years before I was diagnosed with RA I would injure easily and it seemed to take for ever to heal. I remember it was very confusing and painful. I didn't have a clue that I even had an immune system at the time. I only learned about this stuff after I was diagnosed. Go figure. Good luck and keep your chin up and don't put up with doctors that don't seem to take notice, or sluff you off, be an advocate for yourself. Trenity
