Over the past year, my 17 year old daughter has had times when her white blood count would get low. 1.6 has been the lowest. She has major fatigue when this happens. About a month ago, she was referred to a hematologist. At the time of her first visit with the hematologist her white count was 2.5. He began to do some testing. Her ANA came back positive. Scans and x-rays were good. Bone marrow biopsy showed only 10% cellular. Today, we went for blood work and her white count was 14.7. It has never been this high. She has some pain or fullness feeling in her upper middle abdomen. We were told today that we just need to wait and repeat blood work every 8 weeks. Dr. says that whatever it going on will present itself further with time. Waiting just seems like an insane option to me. Any ideas of what could be going on?
