I went in for a physical a couple days ago- My doctor ran some tests on my thyroid, glucose, liver/kidney, basically just the basic blood work. Called yesterday to see how everything went and if results were in and the receptionist told me I needed to reschedule for more blood work on my thyroid...She wasn't able to reach the doctor at that point but said she'd leave her a message to call me back when she gets back into that clinic.. So she wasn't really able to answer any of my questions... What would they be testing that they didn't test the last time? Anyone know? Oh and I'm not sure if this is important but I believe the worry was that I would have an over active thyroid.. THank you!
Did they just test TSH for your thyroid? If so, and the results are irregular then they may want to do Free t3 and 4 also. My Doc usually just tests the vials the lab already has. Did they test your antibodies to see if you have Hashimotos or another condition?
You are worrying about a POSSIBLE hyperthyroidism !!!!! . it could be one of many other possibilities....... just to repeat an inconclusive test or to confirm a possible diagnosis.
Enjoy your day while waiting ,,,,,, Almost. All thyroid dideases can be cured

B.S! they can all be cured. How do you grow back a thyroid gland?
It's best to wait and see what your thyroid level comes in at and ask your Doctor if it's underactive or hyperactive.
I've had an underactive thyroid gland for years and i'm taking thyroxine for it but some people do add weight gain but whatever the outcome your Doctor will try your on a certain dosage and usually thyroxine is the drug they put you on and take regular bloods to see if it's balanced in your system correctley to help your gland.
I'm very thin and my gland as it's days of going hypo so i loose more weight...it's just getting the balance right to help you.
I would'nt get worried about it and please keep we updated on your results
