I'm fairly new to the boards, but was wondering if someone might have more experience/ideas than myself. I have some sort of slow-developing autoimmune disorder that has yet to be named, but the most obvious symptoms right now are chronic uveitis, lymphocytic colitis and large-joint pain. I'm working with an ophthalmologist and a rheumatologist, who put me on Cellcept recently to try to control the uveitis. Prednisone was successful, but symptoms returned nearly immediately after the step-off, so they determined more aggressive treatment was required. After weighing my options, I opted to go with their recommended treatment.
Strangely, however, now all my hair is falling out. Always having had long hair, I'm used to hair-fall, however this is much, much more than usual. I'd hazard to guess I'm losing 200 to 300 strands per day. This has persisted over a period of about 4 weeks, my hair is much thinner & shorter (making me wonder if the old growth is falling out, leaving newer growth.) Has anyone else experienced this as either part of their own struggles with autoimmune disorders or with taking Cellcept? I'm on month 2, taking 2 grams/day.
I also have autoimmune disorders. With LUPUS you can have your hair fall out. Thats about all I know but thought that might be an insight to you. I pray all gets better with you.

My hair has fallen out at various times due both to flairs and drugs. I haven't been on Cellcept but once I got used to plaquenil and methotrexate, the hair loss mostly got better and now it mostly only happens when I flair. I have scleroderma. Just wanted to let you, like junebuggz, it can happen with AI diseases and drugs. Not particularly helpful, but we know what you are going through with your hair. Hope you get your uveitis under control quickly!
