Is Neurocardiogenic syncope the same as "POTS"?

Hi,
My daughter was diagnosed with Neurocardiogenic syncope about a year ago, she has been on Florinef since last Aug and was doing much better, but she has started getting worse again to where she has missed a lot of school ( mainly in the mornings) and also her work .Prior to this diagnosis she has had ongoing health concerns for years. Headaches, Irritable Bowl, Bladder spasms, chronic muscle pains, nausea, and more. She has had to deal with lots of tests and they diagnosed her with Fibromyalgia ( i feel cause they can't find anything else)
In the mornings she goes for her shower and most of the time ends up laying on the floor as she is about to faint or throw up ( she knows when its happening now so she is able to lie down before it happens) she has to go back to sleep for a couple hours before it helps, she is left feeling blah and no energy the rest of the day tho. She is very frustrated cause she is fed up feeling crappy. When she goes from lying to standing her blood pressure drops and her pulse increases rapidly. I have read some things online and to us it seems she has more symptoms of "POTS". I asked her doctor about this before and he said they are all much the same. Am i overreacting about a proper diagnosis between Neurocardiogenic Syncope and "POTS" ??

No, I don't think you are over-reacting and from what I can tell, although they are indeed similar, they are not identical and so the treatments can be the same OR different, if that makes sense, depending. You can always seek a second opinion, just for peace of mind, if you don't feel entirely comfortable with your Dr. Of course, I am just a patient and maybe someone with POTS will chime in.

Thankyou, I need to find a doctor that knows a lot about "POTS" and give them a list of all her symptoms and see what they say. I just can't believe how much when i read about it, it sounds just like her. I am waiting on a nurse from Cardiology calling me back. I called a couple days ago. Going to ask more about it

Re: Is Neurocardiogenic syncope the same as "POTS"?

I have finally found out my daughter has symptoms of Dysautonomia. We are going to see about getting her into a clinic to get her evaluated and hopefully get help for her. We have always seen all these different doctors and they never really know what the others are doing, and at these clinics the same type of specialists all work together and help people live the best lives they can with this. We are excited to finally be getting answers

Re: Is Neurocardiogenic syncope the same as "POTS"?

Did you ever get a definitive answer to this question? I've been doing a lot of research on my own lately. I've been diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope for quite some time (had five tilt table tests and failed them all). None of the doctors quite know what to do with me. I had never heard of POTS til recently. Also never heard of dysautonomia until recently (like a couple months ago) when I started doing my own research!

Can you tell me what you found out with your daughter?

Thanks.

Barb
