Question Question about chiropractor

If I have a mild bulging disc at L5 in my back that just pretty much stays the same doesnt get better, doesnt get worse. Should I go to a chiropractor for it or would that just mess it up more? Help is appreciated, thanks.

I admit from the start I am not pro-Chiro. I have seen a couple of good ones though. Have you considered PT? I would think muscle strengthening to get as much pressure off the disc would be a better option. I don't mean to condemn them and lump them all in the same barrel but in the wrong hands your back can get worse.

Re: Question about chiropractor

Hi coolguy,
I'm a chiropractor and I see these types of cases frequently. I handle these with kidd gloves and usually do a manual distraction technique. You can tell withing three of four treatments if there is going to be a positive effect. Sometimes it will feel sore the first or second time but should improve after that. The use of ultrasound is also a good adjunct. Ask around for a gently doc who isn't into the heavy-handed treatments. I've been seeing a chiro for years for a bum disc but when I blew the second one it was quickly evident that I needed more. A percutaneous disc-ectomy has been helpful but not a complete recovery.
Later,
Chiz
