Post Microdisectomy no good for me!

[Hi all, just a quick one... i had the L4-5 herniation and had terrible pain down the left leg.
MRI showed this and the surgeon said i would need a microdisectomy,
I had it done on June 2nd and still today only one thing has changed, the fact that the spasms are gone.
I'm having another MRI today actually to see if there is something else going on. Im really quite sad to see that most people are 90% sucessful and it didnt work for me. I had my hopes up big time.
Has anyone at all been through this? Im only 29years and I dont want to be like this forever.

Blue,

I had a micro-d on June 26th and I am in the 10% "not so good result" pool with you. I am better off since I had the surgery since I was not able to stand more than 10 minutes a day and only walked to get to DR visits before surgery.

Anyway I had an MRI in Sept (because my pain levels were getting worse). The MRI came back as normal. I had one of the best neuroradiologists look at my films and she says that they look good (like a person on the road to recovery), but that my nerves were still really ****** off. She said to give it 6-8 months before I would start feeling better.

Now it is 2 months later and I am still in pain, but bextra allows me to work and live a semi-normal life.

I guess what I am telling you is not to give up hope. It can take even up to 18-24 months for the healing process to complete. I know it is really tough to be patient...I too hate to hear "give it more time". I want relief now!

I am glad that you are getting an MRI to see what is going on.

Is your pain getting worse or not improving like you would expect?

HTH,

Mark
