6 years ago I injured my back in a off shore power boat race. I suffered a compression fracture of my L2 vertabrae. I had a good recovery and started yoga with-in 8 weeks fo the incident. My Dr could not belive I could reach my toes.
I am now starting to have pains in my left side rib cage and it is very tight. It is also difficult to bend to the right and I can easily "pop" my rib joints in the back by leaning to either side. I had some xrays taken and it showed an osteophyte growing on the front of my L2. I am scheduled for an MRI next month so I am looking forward to that.
My question is what are the options for surgeroy on a compression fracture of the L2?
If the compression fracture itself required surgery, they would have recommended it six years ago. Obviously the fracture has healed.
An MRI will show any disc damage or possible osteophytes (arthritis).
Hopefully you don't have osteoporosis. Osteoporotic individuals are more susceptible to compression fractures.
