Ever since I had my son a few years ago I remember occasionally getting sharp, stinging pains right at the top of my back, just under my neck on one side, it'd happen when I bent over to pick him up or change his bottom. They were very few and far between, but regular enough for me to remember them, and always in the exact same spot.
For the past few weeks they've started happening more frequently. It happens several times a day now, and although the pain doesn't last for too long, maybe a few minutes, it's excruciating. I'll bend down to get groceries off a shelf at the shops, or just turn my head a certain way and there it goes. It's so hard to describe the feeling.. it's so sharp and stabbing. It doesn't feel like a muscle cos I've never felt anything like this before. And normally if I had a pulled muscle or something it'd hurt if I rubbed the area, but it doesn't hurt if I touch the spot at a time when it isn't stinging.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem? If so, what caused it? I would like some sort of idea what it may be. If it persists I will see someone about it, but I don't know who the hell I'd go to!
Hey Kleaf, Sounds alot like what I,m going thru. Started in 87 as an occational stingey-thing and by 92 it was naging burning-thing and by 98 it was "all consuming" Hot-Poker-kind of thingy and it knoked me down. In the early days I found that ciropratry was the best at releaving the symptoms, that are now constant and painful, plus all the other wonderful sensations our bodies can throw at us, burning, stinging, stabbing, aching and did I say burning. Anyway have you ever had a shoulder injury? If not, the answer is about the same. Have your neck looked at (MRI). Ask to see a neurologist as he may be able to tell if there is any major nerve involvement. Check your posture as this alone can cause most problems. Exercise is important as well. The shoulder thing I read from a medical journal was something to do with facet-joint syndrom where things are out of alignment and a nerve root is getting caught up in the boney parts. Hurts eh! They have not been able to do anything with mine due to the fact that they cannot see it, due to the fact that there is a steel plate in my neck, due to the fact that I have had neck problems for 19 years, due to the fact that I fell down a ladder. So thats how it started, a stinging in the neck/left-shoulder when I turned wrong, bent wrong, reached to far with my left hand. I was put on perminent disability last week so get in there now and prepare for some lifestyle changes. Thanks for listening and hope things go well for you. Oh and start a log of when, how, how long and where It happens most, it really helps when talking to the Docs. Good Luck
