lower back pain/lightheadedness

This morning I woke up with pain in my lower back. It started out with pain mainly in my kidney or flank area...on the sides of my back. Now, it is across my entire lower back and hurts to bend, twist, etc. Along with this today...I have had a couple episodes of seeing "stars" and feeling very lightheaded. I'm also a little nausous. Since it's friday, I won't be able to see my Dr. until Monday.

My question is...Could my lightheadedness and back pain be connected?

Thanks for any replys, Hilery

Re: lower back pain/lightheadedness

Greetings,

if you are experiencing flank pain - there is a good possibility that it may be your kidney and not your back. I have been prone to kidney infections for years and also have a bad back - I've never had lightheadedness from back pain - but if you have a kidney infection you might. My infections usually started with flank pain and just feeling tired - followed by either urination problems or high fever or both!

Just my 2 cents

Hope you feel better!

Re: lower back pain/lightheadedness

Thanks for your reply.
I was wondering if it was kidney related, but I figured it wasn't since it hurts to bend, twist, and turn. Would a kidney infection cause pain with movement?

Re: lower back pain/lightheadedness

it sure can - it can feel just like a nagging back ache - all of mine have. Then again - have you picked up something the wrong way - I have never gotten lightheaded from any of my back pain - I think I've seen stars - but never dizzy

Re: lower back pain/lightheadedness

Just my two cents worth but it sure sounds like a kidney or bladder infection to me. I had a bladder infection a couple of years ago and was in terrible pain especially in my back. I am not a dr. so I dont claim to know it all but I don't think I would wait all weekend if you dont have to, to see a dr.

Hope you are feeling better soon.
