Post Spondylolisthesis causing burning feet!

Finally a diagnosis after months of seeing doctors!
had diagnostic spinal block injection into L5 nerve in 1 leg this morning & pain in foot went within 20 minutes!
It's been such a long haul as my spondy is only just over the 1st level & sole of foot burning pain seems very uncommon - just to let anyone else who has same problem know . . .
Now to have 2 more injections - but the anti-inflammatory kind to see if that works to lessen pressure on nerve
If not next step fusion surgery . . .
meanwhile reading positive reports about fusion on this board has been great - but it still is major surgery - so even tho' pleased to have a diagnosis I now have that as a strong possibility in my near future - o well - at least not being sent to see podiatrists any more!
Wishing all a painfree evening
C

Camelia, good news! Did they actually do the injection into the leg? I too have burning foot pain. Last year before my ESI's the pain burned all the way down my leg, but after 3 esi's, I just had the foot pain. Ouch, right? I am currently using a TENS unit which really helps block it. It could be permanent nerve damage, who knows. Anyway, glad to hear your good news! ~daubie

1/19/04 I am 7 mos post op. I still have the same foot pain as before surgery. Doc agrees it is probably permanent nerve damage. Started neurontin this week. Still glad I had the surgery though!
