Recently I have started a new job as a checkout operator in a supermarket. The first few days I sat down while serving and was experiencing pain at my upper back on my shoulder area. I'm pretty sure its muscle related, I am 17.
I then proceeded to stand up on my next shift, however this did not help either. Could anybody please give me a solution or exercises that could help me, thanks.
do they have rubber mats under your station? you might need to get one. alot of times standing on concrete or any hard surface can cause pain. if it continues id get checked. i pray its nothing for your age.

When sitting down there is foot rest, however whn standing no there is no rubber mats.
Also In my opinion I could be feeling this pain from repition.
i would suggest to be seen. you might have pulled or straighned a muscle. i would take it easy untill looked at. its just your feet and upper back? do you have any other symtoms?
No its not my feet, just my shoulder and lower neck area. Its still sore. Thanks Michelle
Anyone get any other solutions, I know its minor compared to alot of problems but help would be greatly appreciated.
If you are using your shoulders in a way that you are not used to using them, you get sore. That might take time to get accustomed to. There are a lot of great shoulder exercises on the net. I used them after my shoulder surgery. What ever you do, if you go to the doc, ask for PT, not shots.
As for the mats, they have to provide them as per Workman's Comp, so please ask for them. It helps you and them.
