Re: thuracic surgery

HI try a search for spine universe. They even have videos. My husband had fusion from T11 to L2. First they did posterior with rods & plates . Then Three days later did anterior fusion with carbon fiber cages more rods plates and screws. His L1 shattered and T12 was partially gone, this is the vertebrae not the discs. They used his 10th rib and donor bone to fill the cages, there were three cages. He he had absolutely no trauma to his spine so we do not know what happened. They found no cancer, no infection and no osteoporosis!!!! Still do not know what in the world made the vertebrae shatter. I kinda believe it was ESIs. But can not get anyone to even say maybe. As I had five months to do research because he was paralyzed because the bone shards crushed his spinal cord. But with a lot of prayer and determination on his part he is now on his feet, going slowly but walking. It is very hard to have a workaholic on his back. Already got disability with no denials or appeals. He is just very depressed some days and that is not easy to deal with on my part.
Deb
Maybe you can find the web site. Good Luck
At the one year check up it looked as if maybe the fusion was working. Still has severe pain tho. Always will according to the doctor.

Re: thuracic surgery

I have a herniation at T10-11. No bone problems though. I would love to know what your symptoms are and see if they are similiar to mine. Are you going to a neuro or an othopedic surgeon? Good luck to you.
