Unhappy Torn a muscle in back

I managed to tear a muscle in my back when working on my car and i felt the muscle rip. I almost fainted with the pain. I had to lie on floor for aabout 10 minutes to stop my head from spinning. I have taken strong pain killers codrodmol for a couple of days and the pain is not so bad now but i have an acre in my side and my back feels weak. I have not been to the doctors as i now they can't do anythink with a back problem. I am spending most of my time lying on the bed and this seems to help and i have brought a neoprene back surport as well.
Q
Is there anything else i can do and how long can i expect this problem to last?
Many thanks
jeff

Re: Torn a muscle in back

I would not assume that there is nothing that can be done. It would be a good idea to see the doctor!

Yes, you need to make an appt. and see your doctor. It may be a muscle, but it could be a disc.
I would use ice on the area, not heat, and avoid lifting until it heals (if it is a muscle)....

Good luck and take care.

Carol

Re: Torn a muscle in back

I really feel bad for you. I have some rough back problems so I know a little about them.

This is just a thought concerning your situation. I think going to a ortho doc is best because you do need to know what it is exactly. Now lets say it is a torn muscle, when one tears the rotar cuff in the shoulder is is repaired sewn back. But yes it could be something else too. Please let us know how you are doing etc. Take care, Laura
