I hurt my back at work in 2002 and when it happened the pain shot across my back, and in my buttocks, but I also hurt my right side with pain in my back, leg and shoulder. I did have surgery for the bad disk, I had pain in my left leg,also pins and needles but mostly very bad lower back pain that by the end of the day I was not even sleeping thru the night. Did epidurals and pt, nothing helped, now they are saying most of my pain was on my right side and with the disk being l4-l5 it should be worst on the left.Has anyone had pain in their right side with l4-l5 herniated disk?

I had a herniated disc L4-5 and I have right sided pain, in right thigh, calf, and big toe, and sometimes two other toes.I I think it all depends how the disc herniates, if it herniates to the right, well then you have the right sided pain. I am sorry about your injury and pain. But welcome, and I hope you become totally pain free. Hugs..StarAngel
I had a lumbar fusion, plus two other surgeries, and unfortunately I still have lots of pain.

Thank You for your reply, They make it sound like if it is l4-l5 the pain should be in your left side, I said it was in both, when it happened it was like a knife cutting me across my lower back,and yes my right side had pain even in my shoulder, I think the wasy I twisted plus having this fibromyagia does not help any, as I get shots in my lower back just for that because my right and left side hurt, so its a choice for the cortisone shot so last time I had it on my left side. I think that I worked and traving back and forth on the train and up and down all day at work, did not help any. I had the epidural shots(which did nothing) but the third shot the dr. moved the needle and I was on vicodin the pain was so bad. Every day and night I was in pain, it was so bad in my lower back, and I had tingling in my leg, I also had terrible leg cramps,plus taking muscle relaxers and it was so hard working, all I wanted to do was to have the pain stop, but I think as time went on it got worse.
