1 yr L5 post fusion: no differience (i think tight calves are REAL cause)
Hello Everyone! I used to post on this site 2 years ago before i decided to have lumbar (L5-S1) fusion ( AKA the worst two weeks of my life). I was 25 then. I had the PLIF spinal fusion on the cusp of my 25th birthday (the day my Mom insurence was to drop me). I am still bewildered about how quickly this all happened and how back pain changed my life. After a six month weening off of prescibed oxycontins it became clear that the surgery did'nt do anything for me and i am still in pain as i sit here and type these words. I have done everything that was suggested, found on Google, or prescribed---Vax-D, Yoga, Stretching, Prescipt. Drugs, Acupunture. This is what i do now: I pay close attention to my body. I do it cuz doctors sure don't. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but i have lost faith in DOCTORS. I am not even going to go there! Ahhhh man....
I am no doctor but this is what i 'feel' in my body: I've noticced that my calves are tight and when i even slightly point my toe it aches and cramps. That 'tightness' or ache follows up to my lower back and waist and aches. It also goes to my shoulders and tightens them up. I have shootin pain in my arms if i try to bring my arms behind my back. ***The weird thing is, as horrible as this pain is if i do 'something'--like stretch the right way or walk a certain way--it really improves!! What i do, i don't know---when i try to stretch i seem to over do it, and nothing positive results. I've read that tight calves are sometimes the cause to back pain---but what can i do about it?? Any suggestions? success stories? Remember i have no insurence---but i want to live again. Please help!!!!!!!!
