neurosurgeon said no surgery would help - opinions?

My neurosurgeon said today (my 2nd appt w/him), that since PT & Steriod Epidurals did not work, there is nothing else he could do for me. Said surgery was not an option due to my 'stature'. I was sent to him for ruptured C7, with bulging C5&6. I also have awful pain in left leg (thought to be neuropathy by orthotist and rheumatologist), asked him to evaluate, he wanted to deal w/the cervical problem 1st. Now he offers no hope of surgery, or any relief (just live in pain forever), and he has not even TRIED to get a better image on the MRI. He did offer, but discouraged, a myleogram - this would tell where the problems are in cervical & lumbar region, but again stressed this is a risky test and with my other health problems, could really not do anything for me. Offered to send me to a psychiatrist who prescribes pain meds - pain mgmt dr he sent me to only does epidurals.

Sorry this is so long, I'm just frustrated. My other health problems are: fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis both knees, ankles & hips, meniere's disease, undefined seizure disorder, seizure level migraines, hbp, allergies, asthma, GERD, now cervical spine rupture and nothing decided yet on left leg (its just getting worse on its own, with no help from anyone). Leg wakes me several times a night now, and I can barely walk with the aid of a cane and AFO device.

Any thoughts, opinions would be appreciate. I'm just about ready to try a chiropractor - might make it worse, but at least its a try.

Jen, I'm so sorry for all you're going through!! I know you're at your limit, but please stay away from chiros!! They definitely WILL only makes things worse!! I've been told by many to stay away from them when you're talking about herniated discs!!
I've been told that I just have to live with it too, but to me, that's better then making things worse with a chiro!! We're here for you, and will try to help you through the best we can!! (HUGS)) take care!

Thanks for the opinion, I am already very leary of chiro's - just in pain & wanted opinions while I look for options. It make me feel better to know someone was told surgery not an option, at least I'm not alone.

Jen, I'm so glad to hear that you're leary of them too! That makes me feel so much better LOL!! The last thing we need, is to be made worse!!!
I see that you wrote "life's getting me down", but you can't let it!! Otherwise you're letting cp win, and we can't have that LOL!! Remember I'm here if you need me!((HUGS)) take care!!

Re: neurosurgeon said no surgery would help - opinions?

A friend of mine has neuropathy & is now with a pain management doctor, as far as that, your doctor is right, she saw a good specialist at a back clinic & had her regular doctors diagnosis confirmed. She has some good meds now that do give her relief.

My opinion about chiros, DON'T DO IT! I did, PT helped me much more, plus my friend went to PT plus the PM doctor.
