Spondy Suffering

Just wondering if anyone out there is suffering from the same thing that I have. Was diagnosed with Spondy, and DDD and also have a Scoliosis thing still happening. I am still in pain. I am now on a Duragesic patch of 50, but for some reason when I change the patch I am still going through severe breakthrough pain for at least a day and a half. I don't know if this is normal or if my back is just getting worse????
I wouldn't mind the help on this one.

Now almost 1 year having chronic lower back pain due to Spondylolesthesis, and DDD, and also still have a 31 degree curse to back.
Also have a dextro-scoliosis and a levo-scoliosis.

Re: Spondy Suffering

marg,

i too have spondy and ddd.so im looking at a probable 3 level fusion if and when.

i know on young ones fusion surgery does help correct scoliosis but i doubt its as simple once full grown.i know that my chosen ortho specializes in pediactric scoliosis surgery.

the patch takes abaout 12 hours to start working for most people.it may be that the time when the last patch wears off and the time it takes for the new one to start working your pain is getting out of control.
its no secret that its easier to keep pain in check then bring the pain down.shorter time between changes and /or break through meds should help.tell your pain dr what you told us.

take care,scotty

Re: Spondy Suffering

I have spondy in my neck at the C5-6 level with a bulge as well as spondy at L4-5, L5-S1, both with a bulge. And DDD at both lumbar levels as well.
