Lifting my son is killing my back!!

I have a 23 pound 1 year old. Need I say more? My lower back is in constant pain, and I'm not sure what to do. I can't relax it becuase it's just too painful. Anyone have an exercises I can do to strengthen my muscles there?

Re: Lifting my son is killing my back!!

if you type something to the effect of "back pain exercises" into a search engine, you should find out some stuff you can do

legs and AB's help alot and also the "trunk" muscles

all this should be covered in a good search

Re: Lifting my son is killing my back!!

Hi , I also have a 1 year old who weighs about the same too. I'm 4 months post lumbar fusion and lifting him all the time now. The only thing I can stress to you if lift him with your legs and hold him close to you. I always get on my knees and grab my son and then without BENDING lift. Hope this helps..good luck.

Re: Lifting my son is killing my back!!

Try doing some pelvic tilts. Bend at the knees when you pick him up like Jettsmom said!
