| Virginia Workmans Comp & Back Injuries
Hello everyone.
I am throwing out this question to anyone that may have had a similar situation and has advice to share. I began having back pain at work that slowly increased over 6 days until I could not stand or sit without pain. Initially I was told I had pulled a muscle, then it was a "pinched nerve". I applied for Workmans Comp but it was denied since I could not identify the exact time that I was "injured". (I knew what day it began) The rejection letter came 5 weeks ago. Now I am into my 7th week of discomfort, finally got approved for an MRI which confirms that I have a herniated disc that is applying pressure to the nerve(s) of my left leg. I am a courier and know very well that this occurred on the job. Now I am faced with seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon next week. I am not a happy camper. Is it worth seeing a lawyer or is Workmans comp that clear cut in this state. Thanks.
