Risk of epiduaral steroid?

I had leg pain for 1-2 years, which is much worse when laying down and disappears when walking. THe PM suggest ESI. I'm OK to try even if it doesn't help and gives me soreness for a few days/weeks. What I'm worried is if it makes worse for months/years. What is the chance of that?

Re: Risk of epiduaral steroid?

Have you read the online publication, The Burton Report? It should help you with the decision.

The ESI is a diagnostic tool.

I finally gave in and had one in my back. Didn't work. I have no idea, to this day why I gave in except that the pain was unbearable.

I have permanant damage in my shoulder from having them there.

Only you can make the decision.

If the pain disappears when walking, I would wonder if I needed one. Have you found other things that make it disappear?

Re: Risk of epiduaral steroid?

There's a significant difference in leg pain when laying down. Even sitting is not too bad for leg pain.
Permanent or long term worsenning of ESI is what worries me.
