I just had a laminotomy/discectomy on the left L5-S1. things are going well, but I notice the right upper side of my thigh is numb. (i didnt notice this in the hospital and I have been home for 2 days)
Is this normal or is this a sign of nerve damage? Any opinions??
well I called the doc today..he said that the pelvis has a nerve that goes around it. Anyways, he told me that it probably got compressed during the procedure and it will go away in time. If it does not, I will get used to it to the point that it will not bother me anymore..and that it is normal for someone to experience this.
Hey Kristy:
Yep, it is normal. The nerves were under do much stress during the operation that it is very likely to feel some numbness. I am almost 4 months post op, and still have lack of sensation in my right calf, and foot.
Good Luck!
