Consult with Neurosurgeon---advice please

My family doc has referred me to a neurosurgeon for my neck pain and I am seeing him on this coming Monday, Jan. 10. I cannot belive I got in so fast.

anywho....

what should I expect? I am having my MRI shipped over there. I dont know much about these docs. What will he do that my p-doc couldn't? Could he do anything on the spot?

It is really hurting this morning.....I almost cant wait to go this appointment.

As a spine specialist he'll get to the bottom of it. If all you have is an MRI he'll probably send you for more tests. He might give you something for the pain.

Re: Consult with Neurosurgeon---advice please

My family doc just gave me some hydrocodone because the indomethicin was giving me the heebie jeebies. I would let this neuro guy amputate my spine if I knew I could get away with it.

Question Re: Consult with Neurosurgeon---advice please

Great tyo hear you giot in so quickly - that can be half the battle. Something I have done on a regular basis is make a written list of questios relating to area of the prognosis, recovery, surgical options ete etc. There is nothing worse that leaving a drs office, climbing into the care and saying I forgot to ask this, that and the other. Good luck with the consultation

Re: Consult with Neurosurgeon---advice please

I am hoping that no surgery is needed. Thanks for everyones' wisdom and experience. Now I am wondering what kind of questions to ask, but I guess I will need to know what his evaluation is first.
