I was told by the surgeon I saw, who wants to do adr on my disc, that it would be available to me (I'm in CA) after May this year...it sounded as if he wanted to do surgery at that time.

So anyone out there in the know? This whole process confuses me.

As far as I know, the ADR should be available sometime late spring/early summer. My Dr. kind of wants to wait and see some of his colleagues do the procedure and see what kind of results they get first hand.

Everything I've read about it (the one's done in Europe etc) makes me optimistic. I think if your Dr. thinks you're a good candidate and you think you would benefit from it, I'd seriously consider it.

I'm sitting on just the hard stuff left from two discectomies and would love to have a new cushion in there!

I have three Prodisc Artificial Disc Replacements. L3-S1. I feel fantastic, I'm 12 weeks post op. They restored 2 1/4 inches of height in me. I'm 6'4" again. I have full range of motion and have been back in the gym since week 4.

If you can wait, the Prodisc ADR should have approval in the US by the fall of 2005. It will be approved for one and two level replacement.

Use your search engines, there is a lot of info out there. Look up Prodisc for starters.
